This Post-Intensive Retreat will consist of continuous periods of Centering Prayer from before sunrise until the dinner hour, with breaks for meals, in silence. Attendees may participate in as much prayer as they are called to. Short pauses for entering and leaving the meditation circle will be offered every 30 minutes. There will be no teaching and no reading during this immersion in silence. With more than 20 years of Centering Prayer practice each, Mary Lapham and Tom Bostelmann look forward to hosting you for this journey into deep silence.
The Retreat opens Friday May 3 after 4:00 pm and ends Wednesday May 8 with lunch at noon. We will begin the Silence after breakfast on Saturday to allow participants time to explore the beautiful location, unwind, rest, and visit before the retreat begins.
From Father Carl Arico: “There is something very powerful that takes place when you enter into the embrace of a prayerful community. You get into a rhythm that moves you out of distractions, both internal and external, into a space of internal awareness…. When you don’t have to worry about being in charge and all your needs are being met, you find yourself surrendering to an inner grace that makes you aware of the subtle movements of the body and spirit…. You are ever-so-gently being formed by the Silence.”
